The Bingo Association’s Annual 2019 Charity Golf Day & Dinner, took place on Thursday 6th June, returning to the famous Celtic Manor Resort, in South Wales. Attended by members, suppliers, guest and many non-golfers the day and evening were a great success: enjoyed by all and raised further funds for the Association’s national charity Variety.
In all 58 players from bingo clubs and suppliers across the country attended, enjoying a great day’s golf on the award wining course, followed by dinner, at which almost £2,000 was raised for Variety, the children’s charity.
The big winners of the day were the team from Buzz Bingo Digital, who collected the Best Team Prize and The Bingo Association Trophy, along with Best Individual Front 9, The Jarglen Jug, Best Individual Back 9 and The Batup Bowl: they didn’t manage a full clean-sweep as Rod Runnells of SmarHub took Best Individual Overall Prize The Maygay Cup, with a very impressive 42 points.
A further 20 non-golfers joined the event for dinner and the prize presentations, with all dinner guests warmly welcomed to Wales by Jeff Harris, CEO of locally based operator Castle Bingo.
The money raised from the raffle, entry fees for the ‘Hole in 1 Challenge’ and form donations included in each entry fee contributed to a grand total of just under £2,000 bing raised for Variety. Danielle Roche from Variety, who was attending the Golf Day, wholeheartedly thanked everyone for their support.
Association Chief Executive Miles Baron thanked all of the event’s sponsors: Buzz Bingo, Carlton Bingo, Club 3000, Cowells Arrow, ECM Systems, IHL, Majestic Bingo, Mecca Bingo, NRM and Poppleston Allen, with a special thank you to headline sponsor, Shipley Creative. The continued support and generosity of sponsors has allowed the event to flourish, both as an excellent networking opportunity and charity fundraiser.
