A bigger, better celebration!
National Bingo Week was celebrated in style this year from 24th to 30th June, with National Bingo Day on the 27th being a particular highlight.
Bingo players across the UK enjoyed halfprice tickets for both afternoon and evening National Bingo Game sessions, where a £50,000 Jackpot and hundreds of club prizes were up for grabs!
One of the week’s most exciting moments came when reality star Gemma Collins made a surprise visit to a London Bingo Club, delighting regulars with an unannounced appearance as their bingo caller.
“The GC” (that’s Gemma Collins!) charmed the audience, even saying, “I’d like to do this as a full-time job.”
Gemma later shared the experience with her 2.2 million Instagram followers, encouraging people to support their local clubs during National Bingo Week: “Bingo brings everyone together…it’s a fun and cheap night out!”
On Friday 29th June, bingo clubs hosted a charity game in aid of Variety – The Children’s Charity, raising over £25,000. The bingo industry has now contributed nearly £2 million to the charity since 2015, demonstrating the generosity of bingo players nationwide.
The charity games also attracted 23 election candidates from various political parties, including Steph Peacock, Oliver Dowden, and Alex Norris. These candidates took the stage to call numbers in clubs, showing their support for the community.
Miles Baron, CEO of The Bingo Association, reflected on the event:
“We were delighted to celebrate National Bingo Week this year culminating in National Bingo Day again, with special games and prizes bringing all our bingo community together. We were also delighted to raise money yet again for our charity of choice Variety – the Children’s Charity. I would like to thank all our members for their support and helping once again to raise much needed funds for our charity of choice.”
